President of Azerbaijan Issues an Order for
Celebration of Uzeyir Hajibeyli's 125th Anniversary
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev issued an order for celebration of 125th anniversary of Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli. According to APA, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Education and Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences were urged to prepare and to carry out plan of measures for celebration of Uzeyir Hajibeyli's 125th anniversary taken the Azerbaijan Composers Union proposals into consideration. The Cabinet of Ministers will solve the issues arisen from the order.
Azeri Master of Mugham to Perform in New York
World-renowned Azerbaijani mugham singer Alim Gasimov will perform at the Carnegie Hall in New York as part of the Music Without Borders festival.
The festival to take place in mid-March will see Gasimov perform together with his ensemble.
The show will bring together such names as Korean artist Dohee Lee and Afghan rubab master Homayoun Sakhi. (AzerTAc)
"Nobel Family and Baku Oil" Exhibition Opens in Brussels
EC headquarters in Brussels housed "Nobel Family and Baku Oil" exhibition dedicated to the Nobel brothers, who have contributed a lot to the Baku oil industry development in the late 19th -early 20th century. The exhibition was supported by Azerbaijan Mission to the European Union, SOCAR, Statoil, Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Noble Heritage Foundation.
The opening was addressed by Emin Eyyubov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Belgium, Murad Heydarov, SOCAR President's Adviser, G?nther Oettinger and Andris Piebalgs, European Commissioners for Energy in the European Commission.
The exhibition featured photos and audio-visual materials. Members of the Nobel family Philip Nobel and Gustav Nobel, Vice-President of SOCAR Khalik Mammadov, Sweden Foreign minister Karl Bildt, Peter Semneby, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, Special Envoy of the United States Secretary of State for Eurasian Energy, Ambassador Richard Morningstar, foreign diplomats accredited in Brussels and media reporters were among the visitors of the exhibition. The exhibition to last a month, was also held in London and Berlin.
Website on Azerbaijani art of Carpet Weaving to Be Launched in 5 Languages
Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced contest on website design about preservation and propaganda of Azerbaijani art of carpet weaving, press service of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism told APA. The site will be launched in 5 languages - Azerbaijani, Russian, English, French and Arabic. For participation at the contest, the website design must be presented till March 15. (APA)
